 Our Path Forward

“Together, we can build a safer, stronger Columbus — not just for today, but for every generation to come.” - Byron Hickey

Public Safety - Trust, Not Tension

Our neighborhoods deserve real safety. With violent crime on the rise, Columbus needs leadership that will act with urgency. As Mayor, I will enforce the law aggressively and bring violent offenders to justice — but public safety must be about more than arrests. We need a strategy that both protects people and builds trust.

  • Invest in community policing that emphasizes relationships over reaction.

  • Support first responders while holding all public safety institutions to the highest standards of accountability.

  • Expand mental health crisis response teams to ensure the right professionals are handling the right emergencies.

  • Clean up neglected areas where crime thrives — improving lighting, removing blight, and creating safe public spaces.

Every person in Columbus should feel safe walking in their neighborhood, raising a family, and building a future here.

Public Health - Public Health is Public Strength

We cannot treat public health as something to discuss only in times of crisis. It must be seen as essential infrastructure — foundational, long-term, and built to last.

  • Expand access to care by increasing affordable clinics and preventive services in underserved neighborhoods.

  • Promote healthy living through better food access and strong enforcement against illegal dumping.

  • Strengthen mental health support, especially for youth and working families.

  • Address the root causes of poor health, including housing instability, homelessness, and unemployment.

Healthy cities don’t happen by accident. They are built when leadership consistently puts people first.

Economic Growth —  Progress with Purpose

A strong economy begins with investing in the people who live and work right here in Columbus. Real progress comes from local investment — in our workers, our neighborhoods, and our small businesses.

  • Prioritize local hiring with workforce training programs and jobs that pay a living wage. Champion and support small businesses.

  • Implement summer work programs for the youth to provide training and mentorship.

  • Hold developers accountable.

  • Revitalize neighborhood corridors, because every ZIP code deserves investment, opportunity, and pride.

Columbus can and will grow — but we must grow together.

  Infrastructure That Works

“Potholes, flooding, broken sidewalks — these basic needs should never be treated like a luxury.”

  • Neighborhood repairs that matter: Launch targeted, neighborhood-by-neighborhood repair plans to fix roads, sidewalks, drainage, and street lighting so every community sees results.

  • Modernize essential services: Upgrade aging sewer, water, and electrical systems to ensure reliability, reduce flooding, and prepare for future growth.

  • Transit for all: Make public transportation more reliable and accessible, especially for seniors and people with disabilities.

  • Reduce waste, and keep the city accountable.

Infrastructure is the backbone of a strong city. Columbus must get the basics right while also planning ahead — because when our roads, utilities, and transit work, our whole city works.
